The club currently owns shares in 12 racehorses, trained at Shadowfax, and is planning to re-invest a large amount of the proceeds from members' subscriptions into the purchase of more horses for them to enjoy. Whenever one of the club's horses runs, Conrad analyses the race in advance and realistically assesses that horse's chance. He also points out the main dangers! Later, both he and the jockey will make post-race comment which is posted on the website for every member's reference. Whether the club has a runner or not, members can always look on the website for the daily tips supplied by Gareth Owen, whose other duties include acting as a jockey's agent which gives him considerable insight into the running and riding plans of jockeys and trainers.
Gareth uses a computer program to assist him to select the best rides for his jockeys and he also advises trainers when and where their horse is 'best in'. Gareth's selections are proofed daily to the Racing Post and are placed in the members' area. So far, the success rate has been remarkable! If you have ever dreamt of attending the races in the role of an owner, then joining Shadowfax Racing could enable you to fulfil that ambition since there are frequently opportunities for members to have an owner's badge for the day. These badges are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and offer the prospect of a most enjoyable day at the racecourse in the company of the trainer.

Sportsdays provide a free newsletter to visitors to their website. This is e-mailed every Sunday and provides weekly coverage of the news and gossip from the world of racing in general and at Shadowfax Stables in particular. It also includes 'horses to follow' and advises of special offers on the hospitality front and in 'the shop'. This is an online shop that will incorporate a wide range of goods from saddles to toys!
Already available are some of Sue Wingate's paintings and limited edition prints and shortly the range will expand to include jewellery, books (some signed by the authors) videos, etc. They even have auction facilities to accommodate bidding for rare racing memorabilia - in fact they will offer everything that a racing enthusiast might want. The club has a selection of horses available for sale - either for syndication, partnerships or sole ownership.
To encourage the first-time owner, 'all in' packages are available that offer the ideal affordable way into racing. The Club's website is extensive and even includes a veterinary page. Renowned Newmarket vets, Rossdale and Partners, now reproduce their monthly newsletter here and visitors can make a 'virtual tour' of the stables. This enables you to click on to any horse's stable and to see a picture of the animal concerned as well as reading about it.
In short, Sportsdays have thought of everything that can provide you with a thoroughly entertaining (and most reasonably priced) introduction to the joys of racehorse ownership … … wherever you are in the world! For further information contact them on: www.sports-days.com
